Singapore Food Blog - Lighthouse Bistro and Bar

Location: Lavender, Singapore

Lighthouse Bistro is a surprisingly good find in the Lavender MRT region, a location where numerous good joints stay hidden from plain sight. Occupying a corner lot, it stood out like the lighthouse it is named for, a beacon that draw diners in for a good meal.

Its interior is quite limited despite occupying the corner lot, and one has a choice to dine outside rather than within its air-conditioned interior. The ambiance in Lighthouse Bistro is suitable for group chitchat and romantic duos alike, so long as one does not suddenly look for space to kneel for a proposal. Despite its corner lot occupancy, space is still limited within the joint.

A sketch to accompany the name of Lighthouse Bistro and Bar.

The beautiful lady

The Tiger Fish and Fries (SGD19) was an excellent choice, the pacific sea bass nicely coated in delicious batter and topped with nori fries, which was better than your average French fries, and accompanied with a dip of orange mayo. We also got our hearty fill of a nicely marbled and juicy Black Onyx Angus (SGD39), one of the finest I have tried before, perfectly paired with potato risotto, turkey bacon crisps and sauteed mushrooms. There was simply no better word to describe the deliciousness of the meal.

To wash them down, we got ourselves something light, like a pot of Lemon Ginger Mint (SGD6) and a zesty Mango Tango (SGD8). The tea helped us digest the hearty meal, the subtle yet lingering mint a welcoming sensation in the palate. I myself preferred the mango laced mocktail, its ice blended sweetness washing down after a warm meal was a refreshing feel.

Lemon Ginger Mint (SGD6) - a nice pot to wash down after a hearty meal. The subtle minty taste can linger in your palate.

An ice blended Mango Tango (SGD8) is the perfect mocktail for a warm meal and more so for a warm night.

My wife got herself a Tiger Fish and Fries (SGD19) - a meal of soft juicy sea bass deep fried in Tiger beer batter, with cut nori fries and a mango mayo for dipping. One could not overly emphasize the deliciousness of this dish.

How can any steak lover resist the temptation of a BMS3+ marbled Black Onyx Angus (SGD39)? I requested this striploin cut to be medium done and its juicy texture was perfect, those marble fat almost melting in my mouth. To add to the marvelous experience, a side of potato risotto, turkey bacon crisps and sauteed mushrooms accompanied the dish to complete the meal.

We enjoyed our dining experience in Lighthouse Bistro and Bar tremendously, thanks to their absolutely above par meals and magnificent ambiance. The staff definitely did a good job in contributing to such an experience, and the chef outdid themselves in preparing such a fine meal.
